Week 9 - Goodbye Challenge, Hello World!

Well, the Social Media Challenge is drawing to close, there's only a few hours before the final deadline to submit our blog for week 9. What an adventure it has been!! I remember signing up for the challenge in December, not really knowing what it was about. And then I remember thinking 9 weeks…three months of blogging! I can't believe it's already done!

Looking back at the five goals I established for myself in week 1, I can say that I've definitely made some headway.

I've increased my online presence with a new Twitter account (which I'm really liking!!) and I've worked really hard on my website.

I found the time to practice, write new songs, learn some additional covers (which I also put on YouTube!), and play some great venues!

I'm continuously working on my CD and the tour, which is planned for late Aug./September. It's slowly falling into place, so stay tuned for more on that in the coming months!

And finally, the dreaded work/music/life balance. I think I've done a pretty good job in the last few months. I think the key for me is to find complementarities between my work and my music and try to see where they can come together. I'm very fortunate that whenever I travel, I get the opportunity to play. The truth is, my work has allowed me to play in countries that are often not the common musician's destination, including Kenya, the Congo, Nigeria, and Peru! So for the time being, the best option for me is to find ways where I can combine the two and take advantage of what each has to offer.

In then end, the most important thing I've learned from this challenge are summed up in these three words:

• Patience, because everything takes time;
• Perseverance, because few are those that succeed after the first try; and
• Practice, because practice makes perfect (or at least close to it!) :)))

It's almost 10pm on Monday night, two hours before the end of the challenge… I'd like to thank you all for your support and for reading my posts! Your feedback has been greatly appreciated.

Although the challenge is over, I've really taken to blogging, so I will definitely continue to blog and let you know what's going on in my world :) Hope you will be part of it!

And to thank you for having read this far, here's an unedited and unreleased track of 'Let Her Fly' performed live with Brea Lawrenson and Braiden Turner last week :) Enjoy!!

À bientôt :)
Kristine
